Grams and millilitres are not interchangeable

Weight-to-volume conversion uses a reference weight for each ingredient. Water, flour and sugar therefore occupy different volumes at the same weight.

Scale recipes proportionally

The factor is target servings divided by original servings. Every recognized amount at the start of a line is multiplied by that factor.

Compare pans by area or volume

Without depths, the calculator compares base area. If both depths are entered, it includes total pan volume and the number of pans.

Treat temperatures as practical guidance

Celsius and Fahrenheit use a mathematical conversion. Fan settings and gas marks are common kitchen approximations, not guarantees of identical results.

01How accurate are flour and sugar conversions?+

They are useful kitchen estimates. Flour in particular varies with type, humidity and measuring method; use a scale when precision matters.

02Which cup sizes are supported?+

The calculator includes a US cup of about 240 ml, a 250 ml metric cup and an Imperial cup of about 284 ml, plus teaspoons and tablespoons.

03Can the recipe scaler handle fractions?+

Yes. Leading values such as 1/2, 1 1/2 or ¾ are recognized and displayed as readable cooking fractions where possible.

04How is the baking-pan factor calculated?+

Round pans use circle area; square and rectangular pans use width times length. Optional depths and pan counts are included.

05Is 20 °C lower always correct for a fan oven?+

No. It is a common rule of thumb; 10 to 20 °C may be suitable depending on the oven, dish and manufacturer.

06Are my recipes stored?+

No. Your entries and calculations stay locally in your browser and are not sent to Tools Universe.
